Aquarius Full Moon – August 2017

August 7, 2017 by Caithe

━═★ Full Moon Blessings ★═━

The Full Moon in Aquarius on Tuesday, August 8th 2017 has its zenith at 4.10am (Brisbane Time, Australia).

Those who have Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius as their sun signs or ascendants will feel this full moon particularly.  Full Moons are energetically connected to the previous New Moon’s goals, dreams and plans.  What did you put into motion two weeks ago?  This full moon brings an opportunity to heal and/or harvest what was sown.

During this full moon, we will experience a partial lunar eclipse on 7th August.  Regions seeing, at least, some parts of the eclipse: Much of Europe, Much of Asia, Australia, Africa, East in South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Antarctica.

━═★ What does that mean for you?★═━

This Full Moon is a partial Lunar Eclipse. A Lunar eclipse is an especially potent lunation — in this case a potent Full Moon. Lunar eclipses are relationship-oriented. The “crisis” that these eclipses tend to elicit is a crisis of lack–a time when we suddenly realize a great need or want. The impact of the crisis can act to sever a relationship–it’s possible. But it can also bring two people together with a sudden awareness of a great need for each other. Although Lunar eclipses are more relationship-oriented than Solar eclipses, they are not always about relationships between two people. They can trigger awareness of need in other areas of our lives, such as our relationship to work, to our health and bodies, and so forth. This is a time when matters come to light–things that have been brewing under the surface.

Relationships may be challenged, broken, or strengthened dramatically at this time. Our discovery is emotionally charged and dramatic. Epiphanies are likely at this time as we become acutely aware of our lack. This understanding can propel us into positive action.

━═★ Appropriate Releasing Ceremony ★═━

If you feel led to complete a ceremony for this Full Moon, a suggestion is provided for you.  Simplify or enhance the ceremony as feels right for you.

Materials:

  • A candle – Aquarius colours are blues, greens, purple, yellow-gold, white
  • A holder or bowl to hold the candle. A bowl of dirt/sand is ideal.
  • One or three crystals from the Gridding list. I would personally recommend amethyst, garnet or clear quartz

Ceremony:

If you are able to be outside under the moonlight or whether you must stay indoors, choose a safe place to light your candle.

Set your intention to receive only that which is healing and beneficial.  Light your candle.  Deepen your breath as slowly and easily as your body allows.

Aquarius energy is Air energy.  Imagine that you are outside in space where you can FEEL the currents of air that swirl through the sky.  Give yourself time to imagine and feel this space.

A kite appears before you.  Written on the kite are the words: Let Go.

If you feel led, use this connection to think of those things that you wish to let go, release and distance yourself from.  As each item is imagined, see it as a ribbon which you can tie to the kite’s tail.

When you have completed the tying of ribbons, imagine flying that kite so that it goes far into the atmosphere.  Imagine that the energy of the Aquarius Moon takes hold of your kite and draws it into its luminous light.  The kite is transformed into a beautiful white bird which shares its song with you.

As you allow the bird to sing to you, listen to your own environment and all the birdsong which fills this space.  These are the Messengers of the Moon and they share the beauty of this connection with you.

When you feel that the birdsong has finished, acknowledge the Moon and the helpful energies.  Express your thankfulness.

Gently blow out your candle.  You may wish to write in your journal.

Practical suggestions for using this energy wisely:

  • Expand your social networks and your comfort zone – join a new group, class or club.
  • Be a little ‘radical’ in your outlook today! Play with energy – research ways of creating your own reality.
  • Your community needs YOU – get out there and help: practically, energetically and physically.
  • Make a list of your talents, abilities and interests in your journal or a piece of paper – create a mandala for personal focus during meditation.
  • Choose a new incense; fly a kite – play with the element of Air.
  • Explore Astrology and The Tarot as divination and self–development tools.
  • Perform maintenance on your computer – clear the cookies, defrag the system, reorganise your files.
  • In the garden, this moon is ideal for general maintenance, harvesting, weeding and pest control.
  • Pump up your cardio–vascular system by going for an energising walk or run.

━═★ Suitable Crystals for Gridding ★═━

If you are gridding, suitable crystals to work with this Aquarius energy include:

amber, amethyst, angelate, blue obsidian, boji stone, cryolite, garnet, hematite, lithium quartz, magnetite, merlinite, rainforest jasper.

━═★ Aquarius Moon Dreaming Energy ★═━

Aquarius Full Moon– Allow my individuality to be truthful:

Diminish the resistance that comes from within

Bring together, with ease and joy, what is beneficial

And releasing that which is better to partition

May all my intentions be heard and let them harm none.

━═★ Aquarius Magick ★═━

When the Moon is in Aquarius, people work collectively towards truth and balance.  The potential of individuals, community and causes is highlighted.  Seek to combine all the ‘droplets’ contributing to the holistic flow of time, space and dimension.  \

The Aquarius Moon is a perfect time to buy or bless any magickal tools involving besoms, athames or other objects you associate with Air.

The Aquarius Full Moon is beneficial for magick concerning:

  • Releasing old ties, friendships and partnerships
  • Seeking clarity and organisation
  • Releasing unproductivity
  • Discovering ties, threads and commonalities
  • Attracting a new muse or connecting with an existing one
  • Strengthening a sense of self and integrating new skills
  • Developing psychic abilities.

━═★ Aquarius Full Moon Healing Event ★═━

This healing list is FREE for any and all who wish to receive a Reiki (balancing energy) flow over the 72 hours of this distance healing event. The beauty of a healing event is that there is no need to ATTEND, only INTEND to benefit.

A Full Moon Healing event uses the energies of the full moon to help further personal and spiritual development. The easiest way to remember energetic healing is that it requires your permission. I have a crystal grid set up and the energy is programmed to be sent to and received by any who wish to receive.

Receiving the healing energy simply requires your permission.

You can do this by stating: I allow and receive all the healing energy I require to benefit my life and living.

Simple, yes?

You may choose to take the healing energies of the Full Moon this further by:

  • sitting in the moonlight and meditating
  • creating their own crystal grid
  • writing in their journal
  • looking after their own body – water, sleep and recreation
  • finding ways to express themselves
  • encouraging themselves to be aware.

To join the Aquarius Full Moon healing event, visit the event HERE.

May the Full Moon’s blessings be yours.

Mabon

March 18, 2014 by Caithe

MabonOstara Mabon Equinox Blessings

On March 21st, the Autumn Equinox occurs – when day and night are equal in length.  Known as Mabon (pronounced MAH-bon), it is when the God is within his Sage stage and approaches the end of his life.  He is preparing to leave his physical body and journey into the underworld.  During Samhain, he will rest until he is reborn as The Sun God at Yule.

During Mabon, the Goddess is in her Crone aspect as she prepares herself for her lover’s eventual demise.  Although saddened, she knows he lives on inside her.

Mabon is named after the Welsh God Mabon ap Modron – stolen three days after his birth and imprisoned.  He was rescued by King Arthur and became one of his companions.  His story symbolises hope, faith and loyalty.

Mabon represents the battle between day and night.  At the equinoxes, Lleu Llaw Gyffes (son of Arianrhod and the God of Light) and Gronw Pebr (God of Night) battle for supremacy.  At Mabon, Lleu is betrayed by his wife, Blodeuwedd.  Lleu is defeated and the days begin to become shorter.  This battle symbolises the cycle of rebirth.

Nature starts to enter its dormant phase, conserving energies as the days grow shorter.  It is the last of the harvests.  Mabon is also known as The Wine Harvest, Apple Harvest, Harvest Home, Witch’s Thanksgiving and Cornucopia.

‎To our Lord and Lady ~ Mother Earth, Father Sky

We seek your blessing as Mabon draws nigh

Giving our thanks for all you provide

For food, warmth, shelter and love supplied

We harvest our hopes, leave behind our fear

And listen closely, winter announces she is near.

Help us find our balance at core

Transform our light to flow and soar

Bless our homes, our friends, our hearth

Cycling gently with Gaia’s Wheel on Earth.

(Caithe Cameron)

The Historical Traditions of Mabon

The Second Harvest and the Autumn Equinox were celebrated by honouring the wise aspects of the Gods and Goddesses.  Celebrations provided welcome relief from the hard labour of harvesting.  It was considered to be an ideal time for finishing old business, exploring The Mysteries and focussing on equality.

Animals began their migration patterns while farmers and villagers readied their stocks for winter.  Produce was carefully preserved, wines were made, seeds and seed pods were stored for the coming months.  Magickal Herbs were picked and dried.  Houses were fixed and wood put aside.  All in preparation for the cold months approaching.

Offerings were made to harvested fields in recognition of its abundance.  It was believed Grain Spirits lived within the last sheaf of the harvest.  These were often dressed and decorated to resemble a man and then burned as a celebration of the sun’s gradual return.

Graves were honoured with offerings of seeds and seed pods.  This may have been especially prudent when heavy snowfall may have prevented people from visiting these sites during Samhain.

The Modern Traditions of Mabon

As a celebration of Crone energy, it is a very important time for considering your own spiritual growth.  Nurture and enrich yourself as a spiritual being of Wicca and as a child of The Goddess.

Walking through the forest, visiting cemeteries and collecting seed pods are worthwhile activities in modern times.  Picking pumpkins, harvest crafts and selecting a Harvest Queen and King are also popular across some Wiccan traditions.

As a time of community, you will notice Pagan Pride and International Women’s Days are often held in the month of March.  These help draw together like-minded people by acknowledging the connection between different people.

Although many of us no longer harvest our own fields, bounty can still be celebrated.  Food drives or contributing to a local charity reflect abundance.  Why not share your own abundance?

The crafting of God’s Eyes is sometimes associated with Mabon. (Remember those popsicles sticks with wool wound around them?)  Also known as an “Ojo de Dios”, the ancient symbol was originally made by the Huichol Indians of Mexico and the Aymara Indians of Bolivia.  It is believed to represent the dying Sun God and how he is always watching over us even if the sunlight hours grow shorter.  Spaniards took the tradition back to the European countries.

It is an ideal time to honour your shadow self by respecting and working through your emotions of sorrow, anger, mistrust and repressed feelings.  Expand your practical culinary skills by trying your hand at making pickles, chutneys or jams.

Mabon in Oz

Here in Australia, The season of Mabon brings cool mornings and warm, still days.  By some Aboriginal groups, it is called The Eel Season as they are fat and ready to harvest as they head out to sea for breeding.  The birds begin their migration patterns, the possums and dingos begin their breeding seasons. The skinks and tortoises begin their hibernation.  Red-tailed Black Cockatoos begin to chip away inside dead trees to create their nesting spaces.

The Manna or White or Ribbon Gum begins its flowering season.  You know these Eucalypts with their blazing white bark. At the base of their trunk, the bark seems to fall away in ribbons – hanging like the petals of a flower and the branches shooting straight into the air like a 40 metre tall stamen.

If the weather conditions are right, rainfall is a high possibility.  Autumn is known as the season of Fall – where the leaves fall from the trees. Here in South-East Queensland, very few trees lose their leaves.  The Black Bean or Moreton Bay Chestnut begins flowering (these beans are highly toxic causing diaorrhea and vomiting).  Velvet Leaf or Callicarpa bushes will slowly turn their inconspicuous, small, green berries a stunning, bright purple.  Brush Cherry trees are growing their edible pink and red fruits.

In gardens, the Banksia Bushes are flowering, as are the Easter May (a non-native tree).  The mulberry and gooseberry bushes are fruiting and will be ready to harvest in the coming weeks.

This is a season for getting out into the garden. The sun is not as hot and there is still some daylight in the early evening to weed, prune and sing to your plants.  It is a time to prepare some of the vegetable beds for their fallow time and prepare to plant the Winter Seeds.  It is also a time of nurturing the land of your home.

Of course, many will be celebrating the Christian celebration of Easter.  You may choose to follow both the energy of mass consciousness alongside your Mabon celebrations.  Do what feels right for you and your intention for being in connection with the cycle of time.  Easter can become just a fun time of sharing chocolate while Ostara can be something more profound.

As a season of rainfall, you may wish to work with water goddesses, the colours of the Manna Gum (silvery white, blue and pink) or the medicine of the Eel and the Possum.

Mabon provides an opportunity to:

] Initiate a food drive or assist a charity with theirs

] Participate in Clean Up Australia Day, International Women’s Day or Pagan Pride Day

] Pick apples in an orchard

] Complete a Gratitude List for your Reflective Journal

] Turn off the TV and tell stories!

] Complete an Autumn Clean in preparation for Winter

] Make apple candleholders and apple garlands

] Weave a God’s Eye (remember weaving wool around paddle pop sticks???)

] Make a scarecrow for your garden

] Make pickles, jams and preserves.

Lunasa

January 29, 2014 by Caithe

Acknowledgement of Country

Today we stand in footsteps millennia old.

May we acknowledge the traditional owners whose cultures and customs have nurtured, and continue to nurture, this land, since men and women awoke from the great dream.

We honour the presence of these ancestors who reside in the imagination of this land and whose irrepressible spirituality flows through all creation.Lunasa Blessings

A poem by Jonathan Hill (Hill, 2013)

It’s time for the Wheel to turn once again.  The Wheel of Time is a Celtic Calendar describing the cycles of life within the world around us.  For those of us in the Southern Hemisphere, especially for myself in South-East Queensland, Lunasa doesn’t feel particularly like it’s preparing for Autumn.

Instead, Lunasa is about searing heat and high humidity where both animals and people are seeking cooling comfort where they can.  Traditionally celebrated on the 1st or 2nd February in the Southern Hemisphere, it coincides with the hottest period of the year and Australia Day celebrations.  For many Australians, therefore, Lunasa coincides with the excitement of a new school year, beach parties, barbeques and watching copious amounts of cricket and tennis (either on the field or on the television). Of course, at this present time, there are cyclones building off the Queensland coast bringing windy weather and rainfall to many.  Interestingly, due to the storms, we often experience power outages – making the harvest concept rather symbolic and also the need for us to get candles out!

I feel Lunasa is a time of planning and assessment, a time of thanks for what has occurred in the previous year; a time to dismiss fear/guilt/regret from your life; a time to solidify relationships and to let go of old ones (especially divorce) and to honour Mother Earth for the bounty of her harvest.

Traditionally, Lunasa is associated with the harvesting of cereals and first fruits.  The colours of orange, gold, red and yellow are associations made with the season too.  For us Aussies, Lunasa is the season of storms and bushfires.  Both provide regeneration and new growth where once there was desolation.

In my own garden, the Mango trees have finished fruiting and new growth is shooting forth.  This new growth is green, gold, red, orange and yellow.  Nice matching to the traditional colours!  The Queen Mum Agapanthus will flower during February.  This particular flower was called “Aggie-put-your-pants-on” by my Father and Grandmother.  It reminds me this season is about putting on the big girl panties and getting ‘stuck into life’ by being grateful for all the blessings in my life through change and transformation.

In Aboriginal stories, the storms and lightning were produced by a male gecko or by Marmagan.  The story of the male gecko tells he ate the grasses near the sacred swamp, drank the water and then spat the combined mixture into the sky to make rainclouds.  The thunder was his appreciation for the rain to come.  Similarly, Marmagan rides the clouds and throws lightning bolts.  By rubbing two stones together he created rain.

I find the symbolism as this being a time of harvesting (reaping what you sow) in both the Celtic and Aboriginal traditions.  In Celtic times, Lunasa was a time of judgement using a Brehon Stone – a circular stone with a hole in the middle.  Lawbreakers were judged before it.  In the Aboriginal stories, cyclones were seen as being judgements for disturbing the balance of Sacred places.

Although I am not Aboriginal through blood, I find their stories and connection with this Sunburnt Country of ours totally fascinating.  Their ability to sing the story (songlines) to travel along trade routes or find sacred places demonstrates their powerful connection with the Land.  During Lunasa, Dorothea Mackellar’s “My Country” speaks to me of the wonder and terror of our land’s cycles.

In your backyard, look to the ants for signs of coming rain.  Or perhaps, look for the Black Cockatoo flying from the mountains to the coast. As a totem of Rain and Joy, Black Cockatoo is a favourite bushcraft weather indicator.  You may also find Goannas are on the move – seeking out the newly laid nests of lizards in the warm soil.  Lastly, look for the Common Brown Butterfly – the females are about to come out of hibernation and begin to lay their eggs.

You may also hear the Kookaburra at dawn – staking their claims on their territory before mating.  An old bush tale also states:

If the Kookaburra laughs between 10 and Two

A weather change is coming through!

Lunasa’s “Goddess as Mother” energy is elegant in its dimension, strong in its power and regenerative in its care and nourishment.  How can YOU give back to Mother Earth today?

Merry Meet and Namaste

Father Sky and Goddess Moon

Protect us from life’s stormy skies

All we seek is Lunasa’s boon –

Releasing fear from our lives.

Eat the fruit, bake your bread

Feast and frolic around the Need-Fire

No more guilt, no more dread

Lunasa is here to inspire!

Key words: authentic, assertiveness, independence, action, instigation, activation, animation, enthusiasm.

For these full moon reports, I like to do a little research as well as tapping into my intuitive knowing.  A quote or song will often start off the whole writing process – as it did for today’s report!  Last year, it was Wheetus’ Teenage Dirtbag and Sarah Jessica Parker’s paraphrased quote: Let your Freak Flag Fly!  This year, it’s more Pat Benatar singing I am the Warrior. Remember that song?

“Shootin’ at the walls of heartache, bang, bang, I am the warrior”

What to do with an Aries Full Moon?

Aries is a Fire sign – so you may desire to concentrate on working with fire, the element.

The following are suggestions for items you may like to focus on:

Archangel Correspondences ~ Samael (or Azazel)

Crystal correspondences ~ Bloodstone, Diamond, Ruby, Red Jasper or Garnet,

Goddesses:  Isis, Hesta, Vestia, Athena, Minerva, Kali

Gods: Shiva, Mars

Access Questions ~ Who do I need to be today to be inclusive of the most productive, creative, authentic me I be today?  What skills and tools can I access to complete clear this energy surrounding me?  Whatever is not mine, what would it take to send it back with consciousness and healing attached?

Healing Focus ~ is the best time to work magick involving leadership, authority, rebirth, spiritual conversion, or willpower. Healing rituals for ailments of the face, head, or brain are also done during this period of time.

During this Full Moon in Aries you may choose one of the following activities that resonate with you – or create your own!

  • Create with gusto – get out your crafting tools and explore texture, pattern and colour courageously
  • Dress yourself anew – wear something you’ve always wanted to wear (but didn’t have the gumption to do so!)
  • Be courageous – ask for help with a problem you are experiencing
  • Remember bravery – reflect on those moments on your life when you stood up for yourself and/or what you believed in.
  • Examine your relationships – are you a doormat, the dominator or an equal?  What do you deserve?
  • Write a new set of affirmations or questions to jumpstart a new beginning
  • Burn a candle (safely and sensibly) and meditate with the flame
  • Get moving – make a plan of action and DO IT!

For those who are into charms and spells, this is one for increasing personal power.  It is from Llewellyn’s 2014 A spell a day Almanac:

To boost your personal power, brew a cup of Earl Grey tea and include a slice of fresh ginger and a sprig of sage. While the tea steeps, draw a pentagram in the air above the cup and charge it with the following charm:

“Tea and bergamot bring success,

As I go forth I shall impress.

Powerful ginger and sage be clever,

As I stand strong in each endeavor.”

With this charm, I say with clarity

Let it harm none, so mote it be.

Allow the tea to cool. Strain it through a coffee filter, and store in a glass jar in the refrigerator. Pour some tea onto your hands before big meetings or important engagements. Rub it all over and allow it to air-dry; do not wash off. Once it has dried, the power remains with you all day even if you have to wash your hands later on in the day. Brew a fresh batch as needed.
